The first step in Avacayam’s outward journey was the “Clean Yamuna Temple Flower” sponsored by the Ministry of Environment and Forests to sensitize and educate 1,00,000 able and disabled school students in NCR Delhi about the toxic effects of floral discards in the river. The program was intensely experiential.

Thereafter, for the next five years – 2008 to 2013, the Department of Environment supported the spread of Awareness and Action of the Avacayam Initiative in NCR Delhi, mentoring Society for Child development in involve all special schools in this very important and mainstream agenda.
