Programs & Activities

At the organizational level, over the past 16 years, SFCD has created a very strong foundation of programs that are replicable, scalable and sustainable. These programs are based on SFCD's prime strategy of addressing core issues by working closely with stakeholders, bridging gaps in service delivery, strengthening organizational support and conducting research.

Creating a world of equal opportunities
for persons with mental disabilities

Working with Families
At the core is the program "Working with Families" that strives to bring to the fore the issues that need to be addressed by families for helping mentally disabled persons find their rightful place in society. The issues include basic education, independent living, social and adult needs, and viable solutions for vocational training and sustainable livelihoods.

However, we do realize that the onus cannot rest on the family alone and that there needs to be a larger participation of the Community and the State. The related thrust program areas of SFCD are thus directed, with complementary activities that involve:

Integration and Inclusion
Advocacy for policy change, Working for Human Rights, Involving Community Participation, Activities with non-disabled and disabled school children

Bridging Gaps
Disability India Network, Legal Literacy Campaign, Research, Publications

Strengthening Organizations and Capacity Building
Teaching kits, Legal modules, Textbooks, Program analytics
